The business was set up in 1917 by Henry Leland, an motor vehicle parts producer who possessed recently founded the Cadillac brand. He named the business after his boyhood hero: the 16th U.S. chief executive, Abraham Lincoln. Early on Lincoln models are the L Series and the K Series.
